Overview
The Billie Jean King Cup is the main international team competition in women's tennis. It began in 1963 as the Federation Cup, became the Fed Cup in 1995 and was renamed in 2020 to honour Billie Jean King. The Czech Republic won the 2026 title, and Italy won in 2024 and 2025.
The competition was created by the International Tennis Federation for its 50th anniversary in 1963. The United States has won it 18 times, the Czech Republic (counting Czechoslovakia) 12 times and Australia seven times; Italy has won six.
The 2026 Finals were played in Shenzhen, China, from 22 to 27 September. The Czech Republic beat Ukraine 2-0 in the final on 27 September, with Karolína Muchová beating Anhelina Kalinina and Linda Nosková beating Elina Svitolina.
How it works
Nations play ties made up of singles and doubles matches, and the nation that wins most of the matches wins the tie. The best teams meet at a single Finals event at the end of the competition.
