Overview
The Laver Cup is a three-day team event played every year since 2017, in which Team Europe takes on Team World, made up of players from outside Europe. It is named after the Australian great Rod Laver. Team Europe won the 2026 edition 13-5 in London and leads the series 6-3.
The Laver Cup was created by Roger Federer's management company, Team8, with Tennis Australia, and was first played in Prague in 2017. Federer played the last match of his career at the 2022 Laver Cup in London, in doubles alongside Rafael Nadal.
Team World won in 2022, 2023 and 2025 (15-9 in San Francisco). Team Europe won the other editions, and took the 2026 title at The O2 in London from 25 to 27 September when Alexander Zverev beat Learner Tien to seal a 13-5 win. Yannick Noah and Andre Agassi were the team captains.
How it works
Each day has singles and doubles matches, and the points on offer rise as the weekend goes on: one point per match on Friday, two on Saturday and three on Sunday. The first team to 13 points wins the Laver Cup.
