Zverev wins Roland Garros for his first major
Alexander Zverev beat Flavio Cobolli in five sets and became the first German man to win a major singles title since Boris Becker in 1996.
Alexander Zverev won the 2026 French Open, beating Italy's Flavio Cobolli 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-1 in the final in Paris on 7 June.
It was Zverev's first Grand Slam title, in his fourth major final. He is the first German man to win a major singles title since Boris Becker won the 1996 Australian Open, and the first player other than Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz to win a Grand Slam since 2023.
An open tournament
Two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz withdrew before the tournament with a wrist injury. No former major winner reached the men's or women's semi-finals, and defending women's champion Coco Gauff lost in the third round to Anastasia Potapova.
