Alexander Zverev won the 2026 US Open, beating American Ben Shelton, the eighth seed, in the men's final in New York. Zverev was the top seed.
It is his second Grand Slam title of the year, after he won Roland Garros in June, and the second major of his career. The tournament was played on outdoor hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center from 30 August to 13 September.
Defending champions out
Neither of the defending champions kept their titles. Carlos Alcaraz, who won in 2025, did not reach the final, and Aryna Sabalenka lost the women's final to Elena Rybakina.
What Zverev has won
Zverev also won Olympic singles gold at Tokyo 2020 and the ATP Finals in 2018 and 2021, and he sealed the 2026 Laver Cup for Team Europe in September.
